Toast of New York
The Toast of New York (ToNY) is group of serious collectors of popular music from 1900-1950. We make digital transfers, mostly from 78 rpm records, in an effort to preserve the music for future generations. We do not sell these CDs, but rather circulate them among our members. In order to become a member, you must have a collection you are willing to share with the group. If you are sincerely interested in the music but do not have a substantial collection, we do accept applicants who are willing to perform management related functions such as reformatting track sheets. You must give in order to receive – ask not what ToNY can do for you, but what you can do for ToNY!
We absolutely do not tolerate members who turn our cause into profit. If we discover that you have used any portion of our material for financial gain, either by selling it yourself or by turning it over to a commercial label, we will not only throw you out of the group, we will blacklist you throughout the entire record collecting community so that nobody ever trusts you again. Do not test us on this – we mean it!
We will review you application and notify you by email of your acceptance, at which point you will receive a username and password for the website. We reserve the right to refuse any membership application for any reason.
